Is my performance eligible for royalties?

PPL can only pay royalties to performers for their recorded music if they are eligible under legal rules.

Each performance can qualify for royalties in one of two ways:

  • The country of performance (ie, where you gave the performance); or
  • Your country of residence/citizenship at the time you gave the performance

The current list of qualifying countries under UK law can be found here. If your performance was recorded in one of the listed countries, or you were resident of one of the listed countries at the time the recording was made, you will be eligible for PPL royalties for that performance.

Currently the US is not a qualifying country, meaning that US performers who give performances in the US do not currently receive PPL royalties for those performances.
