PPL licenses over 330 commercial radio stations in the UK, including Capital FM, Absolute, Magic, Smooth and many others.

If you operate a commercial radio station broadcasting nationally, regionally or locally on AM, FM, DAB or DTT (Freeview) and your station:

- Includes a variety of both music and non-music (e.g. talk, news, weather, travel etc.) content in its broadcast output; and
- Is funded by third party revenues such as advertising or sponsorship

You require PPL’s standard licence for commercial radio stations. The fees payable under this licence are the greater of the minimum per platform fee(s) or a share of broadcasting revenue (currently between 2% to 5%).

Licensed commercial radio stations may have to provide PPL with the details of the recorded music they play in their broadcasts.

If you are operating a satellite radio station, please email us at radiobroadcasting@ppluk.com to discuss your requirements further.
